Case No. 05-54408.United States Bankruptcy Court, E.D. Michigan, Southern Division.
March 20, 2009
ORDER DENYING CREDITOR KENNETH AHBIR BAKER’S MOTION FOR APPOINTMENT OF COUNSEL
THOMAS TUCKER, Bankruptcy Judge
This case is before the Court on a “Motion for Appointment of Counsel,” filed by creditor Kenneth Ahbir Baker on March 16, 2009 (Docket # 426), seeking the appointment of pro bono counsel to represent him with regard to a proof of claim in the amount of $750.00, which he filed in this case.
The Court has a Pro Bono Program, information on which can be found at http://www.mieb.uscourts.gov/generalInfo/probono.html. That program is limited: “The pro bono program provides legal services to debtors involved in adversary proceedings related to the discharge and non-dischargeability of certain debts. The program also provides service to an indigent former-spouse of a debtor regarding the dischargeability of obligations in the judgment of divorce.” Because creditor Kenneth Ahbir Baker is not a party of the type just described, he does not qualify for participation in the Court’s Pro Bono Program. And there is no other basis on which this Court may appoint an attorney to represent Creditor Kenneth Ahbir Baker in this case.
Accordingly,
IT IS ORDERED that creditor Kenneth Ahbir Baker’s “Motion for Appointment of Counsel” (Docket # 426), is DENIED.
